Children's Carol Service on Christmas Eve 2006

Jason's Farewell Party 13 August 2006

Jason's Farewell Party 13 August 2006

It was a morning of cloud and rain as the heavens wept and nearly 200 people attended both Fr Jason's last Parish Eucharist in St Margaret's and the party afterwards in the Barn.  The Churchwardens spoke of Father Jason's contribution to both St. Margaret's Church and the Village and presented on behalf of those who had contributed to a farewell collection, a cheque for £2,000, a framed print of an unusual view of Ditchling by Andy Roberts who spent his youth in the village. A bouquet was presented to Kathy Clarke.  These photos show some of those who attended the event saying farewell to Fr Jason and Kathy and remembering the wonderful times during the five years that Fr Jason was our vicar.

Blessing the Boundary Walk

Blessing the Boundary Walk

Photos of the 16-mile walk around the Ditchling Parish boundary on Monday 29 May 2006, where walkers met heavy showers, storm force winds and plenty of mud.    We started at 8.45 am from the village hall car park and set off in an Easterly direction, but were soon heading South up to Ditchling Beacon and on towards the Southeast corner.  From there is was a short walk to the Southwest corner where we stopped for 'elevenses'.  Soon after as we came up to the South Downs Way a rain storm and high winds greeted us, hence the lack of photos for this section of the walk.  After lunch in Ditchling we continued Northwards to the remaining corners of the Parish and then via the woods near St George's and Spatham Lane to a well-deserved tea and cake at Stoneywish.

Flower Festival at St Martin's Westmeston

Flower Festival at St Martin's Westmeston

Westmeston's church was resplendent with colour, perfume and song on May 27 to 29, 2006 with the theme For all the Saints.  These photographs are an attempt to portray the beauty of these flower arrangements.
